About FAAS

The Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) has provided shelter, medical care, and support services for thousands of companion animals and the people who love them since it was founded in 2009. Through a unique public-private partnership, FAAS has managed the City of Alameda’s open in-take Animal Shelter since 2012. With innovative programs, community partnerships, and a passionate base of volunteers and donors,  FAAS saves on average 97% of the 1,000+ lost, abandoned, and homeless animals who enter the city’s shelter each year. FAAS also operates an Adoption Center (home of the Cat Experience!) at South Shore Shopping Center, and The Thrifty Kitty, a boutique thrift store on Webster Street. Currently under construction, the FAAS Animal Medical Services & Training Campus on Harbor Bay will provide critically needed access to care for shelter animals, rescue groups, and the public.

This event is sponsored by the West Alameda Business Association. Alameda’s Historic West End District offers an eclectic blend of restaurants, bars, cannabis, and specialty shops.
